Elementor uses the term “Container” to represent both parent containers and child containers (think of these as rows and columns). Originally, Elementor used the terms “Section” and “Column”. Also, the current term for the popup layer panel is “Structure”, whereas originally, it was called “Navigator”. If your site is older, it will use the original terms.
The Style Tab
To style a Container with a background color, background image, border, or box shadow, select the Container and then click on the Style tab on the left side Elementor menu.
Note: To see details better in the Design panel, you can expand the width of the design panel. Mouse over the border between the left and right panels and drag the border to the right.
The Advanced Tab
To change the margins or padding for a Container, select the Container and click the Advanced tab in the Elementor panel on the left.
Note: for Containers, you will not need to use any of the other settings in the Advanced tab other than margin/padding, unless you want to hide a particular Container on mobile (Responsive).
Add Another Child Container
To add an additional child container to an existing container, right-click the pink tab at the top of the parent container, or right-click the gray square icon in the upper left corner of an existing child container within the parent, and select “Add New Container” from the popup menu.
Note: Elementor automatically sizes child containers into equal widths (50/50, 33/33/33, 25/25/25/25).
Structure Panel
If you have trouble selecting a container or element, right-click anywhere on the right-side of the page where there is content (but not within the header or footer) and click “Structure” (or “Navigator”) on the popup menu. This popup panel lists all the items on the page, and if you click an item on the popup, the layer will be automatically selected on the page.
