Elementor uses the term “Container” to represent both parent containers and child containers (think of these as rows and columns). Originally, Elementor used the terms “Section” and “Column”. Also, the popup layer panel is “Structure”, whereas originally, it was called “Navigator”. If your site is older, it will use the original terms.

Text Editor Element

To edit text inside a text-editor box, click anywhere in the text box on the left. The text editor has its own formatting tools and works exactly like the classic WordPress editor. You can select text and make it bold or italic, add a bulleted or numbered list, add special characters such as ©, and add hyperlinks.

To make it easier to enter and edit text in the text editor, click the “fullscreen” icon (next to the link icon) in the formatting menu.

Add Hyperlink to Text

Highlight the text you want linked in the text editor and click the hyperlink (chain) icon from the formatting menu. A popup will appear. For internal links (i.e., to another page on your site), type the page title you want to link to, select the page from the dropdown list, and then click the blue arrow to apply the link. For external links (i.e., to another website), click the gear icon, enter the URL of the website, and click the “open in a new window” box. Then click the blue “Add Link” button at the bottom of the popup screen.

Add a PDF Hyperlink

Upload your PDF file directly to the WordPress Media Library: from the Dashboard menu, mouse over “Media” and click “Add Media Item”. On the “Upload Media” screen, click the “Copy URL to clipboard” button. This will save the file path of the uploaded PDF.

Return to the page you are editing. In the Text Editor box, highlight the text you want to link to the PDF and click the hyperlink (chain) icon in the formatting menu. Now position your cursor in the “Paste URL” popup and click “CTRL-V” to paste the link that was copied to the clipboard. Click the blue arrow in the popup to apply the link.

Heading Element

When using the Heading element, you can specify the heading size and alignment in the design panel on the left, and if you want the heading to link to another page, you can specify that. To change the color or font of the heading, click on the “Style” tab in the left-side panel. Although you can add headings to the Text Editor element, the advantage to using a separate heading element is that it is easier to apply styles to the heading element.

Button Element

To change an existing button, mouse over the button on the page and click the pink pencil icon on the right. You can change the button text, link, and style (font color, background color, font size, padding, alignment, border radius).
